ISO Survey 2005 Impacts Global Management Systems Standards

Published in August 2006, ISO Survey 2005 outlines the impact of globalization on ISO's standards for quality and environmental management systems.

As more global supply chains in export trade and business process outsourcing in China participated, China showed strong performance in both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. In terms of increases, it came in within the top 10 countries. Besides, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are essential for service sectors in the global economy, more than 30% certificates of the total for both standards went to the service sectors.

Due to the transition period for ISO 14001, the 2004 version was not completed on 15 May 2006 as survey work was not concluded until the end of 2005. The initial full picture will only be available in the 2006 survey. For the second consecutive year, the survey includes certification data on two ISO standards, ISO/TS 16949:2002 and ISO 13485:2003 and the requirements of ISO 9001 and sector-specific requirements.
