Making Trade Easier for Hong Kong SMEs
HKTDC and Visa Join Hands to Help SME Development

13 November 2008, Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Visa will host a series of events, including exhibitions and educational seminars, to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) run their businesses more efficiently and to improve their competitiveness.

The HKTDC-Visa collaboration will also promote Hong Kong as a key regional trade hub and the city of choice for international trade events, while introducing a range of Visa business products specifically designed to help Hong Kong-based SMEs.

To help Hong Kong SMEs better manage their business expenditures, Visa began introducing its Visa Business Card to local suppliers at the inaugural HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine Fair in August. The card provides customers enhanced payment services, including detailed business expenditure reports, to better manage cash flow and administer accounts payables. The Visa Business Card also offers a range of merchant discounts, from office supplies to courier services, web hosting to printing and promotional services. Visa Business cardholders can also enjoy bonus point rewards or cash rebates for businesses transactions offered by banks.

"The HKTDC remains committed to helping Hong Kong companies succeed," said Eric Tai, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC. "The HKTDC-Visa collaboration offers a simple and seamless payment process between suppliers and buyers that can streamline their business processes."

"The collaboration between HKTDC and Visa demonstrates the commitment of both parties to support SMEs in running their businesses," said James Dixon, Visa Country Manager for Hong Kong and Macau. "Visa understands the importance of having a business management solution which offers payment flexibility for a company's customers. This relationship will help provide SMEs with valuable insights on how to manage their business more effectively."
