April 12, 2007 - Products from all over the world will be on show at the Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair, the largest of their kind in Asia, later this month at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Hong Kong Houseware Fair runs April 21-24, while the Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair, the second-largest of its kind in the world, will be held April 28-May 1.
The houseware fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), expects more than 2,370 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions. The Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair, organised by the TDC in cooperation with the Hong Kong Exporters' Association, will feature over 3,880 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions, including five newcomers - the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland and Peru.
"Both fairs have set new exhibitor records and fashioned strong international line-ups this year, solidifying their positions as among the world's key marketplaces for gifts and houseware products," said Mr Benjamin Chau, the TDC's Assistant Executive Director.
Last year, Hong Kong's household goods and gifts and premium exports amounted to US$21.94 billion (HK$171.1 billion) and US$20.93 billion (HK$163.3 billion) respectively. Results this year look very promising. Total household goods and gifts and premium exports for the first two months of 2007 increased by 19.7 per cent and 9.7 per cent respectively over the same period last year.
The Hong Kong Houseware Fair has attracted 15 group pavilions, hosted by Australia, the Chinese mainland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam and the United States.
Special theme zones are another fair highlight. The Hall of Elegance has returned this year, offering top-brand household items and designer collections. Quality Hong Kong houseware products will be featured in the Central Display area. This year's Central Display theme is "Hong Kong - Where Design Works," and the area will showcase products in four groups: Casting a Spell; Home and Away; Realistic Energy; and Opposites Attract.
Debuting this year, Posh Corner spotlights exquisite brand names for the home, while the Pet Supplies Zone was created to target the increasing number of pet owners.
Major product displays will include artificial flowers, bathroom accessories, handicrafts, home decorations, household textiles, kitchenware and gadgets, lighting products, pet supplies and small electrical appliances.
This year's seminar programme features an attractive line-up of speakers and issues, ranging from colour and product trends, to SME branding, intellectual property rights issues in the Chinese mainland and risk management in the export business.
Promising a bright range of new gift ideas, the Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair will feature 16 group displays. These include pavilions from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Macau, Malaysia, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, the UK, first-time group pavilion participant Pakistan, and members of the Hong Kong Exporters' Association.
Three popular theme zones have returned this year: Kids' World, the Ladies Gifts and Premium Section, and the Hall of Fine Designs, where more than 50 exhibitors will showcase their newest designer collections.
An extraordinary range of products will be on display, including advertising gifts and premiums, ceramic gifts, corporate gifts, fashion jewellery and accessories, party and Christmas decorations, silverware, stationery, toys and sporting goods, and watches and clocks.
