12 October 2010 – The world’s largest electronics event, the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2010 (Autumn Edition), and electronicAsia open tomorrow with more than 3,500 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions.

The concurrent events, which run until 16 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), are organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The Electronics Fair will feature group pavilions representing the Chinese mainland cities of Jiangmen and Putian, as well as pavilions from South Korea and Taiwan. Pavilions at electronicAsia will group exhibitors from the mainland, along with France, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Going Green
Highlights of this year’s electronics fair include the Hall of Fame, featuring some 400 brands known for quality design and performance. The 2010 fair will also introduce a new Green Electronics Square to showcase environmentally friendly electronics products.

The Technology Exchange Zone will spotlight Hong Kong’s leading research facilities and companies. A total of 14 zones have been organised, including Audio Visual Products, Electronic Accessories, Computer & Peripherals, In-Vehicle Electronics & Navigation Systems, Personal Electronics, and Testing, Inspection & Certification.

Vision of the Future
The Electronics Fair will be complemented by electronicAsia – Asia’s top trade show for electronic components, assemblies, production, solar and display technology. The fair is organised by the HKTDC and MMI Asia Pte Ltd under the theme A Vision of the Future.

Exports on the Rise
This year’s shows take place amid positive market sentiment. In the first eight months of 2010, Hong Kong’s exports of electronics products and electrical parts grew by 36 per cent and 37 per cent respectively over the same period last year. Exports of parts and components to the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong’s largest export market, expanded rapidly on the back of expansion in outward processing production. Electronics exports to the European Union and the United States also performed well, amid the resurgence of consumer demand for electronics products.

Also making a debut at the fairs will be a new iPad application that allows users to browse HKTDC product magazines and source products before and after trade events. Visitors can browse for information on product trends and click on direct links to supplier websites or submit enquiries to suppliers. Free Wi-Fi access will also be provided in cooperation with PCCW at their 8,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across Hong Kong for buyers using laptops or mobile devices to visit hktdc.com. Details of this service can be found at www.hktdc.com/wifi and www.hktdc.com/mobile.
