Hong Kong to Host Asia's Leading Interior Fair This Month
Hong Kong will play host to Asia's leading interior fair this month at which nearly 70 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions will showcase latest interior furnishing products and design services.
The third Interior - International Trade Fair for Interior Furnishings and Contract Business, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Messe Frankfurt, will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 14-16 May, 1997.
"With rapid-growing economies, construction upswings and increased interest in residential and commercial interior spaces, Asia-Pacific is destined to be the world's largest interior products market within the coming decade," said TDC's senior exhibition manager, Mr. Benjamin Chau.
"The Interior Fair, now in its third year, serves as an effective marketing platform for local and overseas companies wanting to access Asia-Pacific's expanding interior furnishings and contract business industry," he said.
On display will be a wide array of products for both domestic and business sectors, ranging from home textiles, interior furnishings and design objects, furniture, light fittings, bathroom and kitchen fittings to interior design services.
Apart from showcasing latest products and services, Interior '97 will feature supporting programmes encouraging idea transfer in the trade.
One of the attractions will be the Trend Story, which will offer visitors a chance to gain a preview of textile interior design trends for 1997/98. The Trend Story, predicted by internationally recognised experts from Europe, is a source of inspiration and practical information for designers.
Another special programme will be the Design Forum: Office of the Future at which seven international key speakers will discuss new ideas, experiences and issues on latest office designs. The Design Forum, to be held on the first day of Interior '97, is co-organised by the Interior Design Association of Hong Kong and Hinge magazine.
In addition, the 1997 Asia Pacific Interior Design Award (APIDA) Presentation Ceremony will also be held to coincide with Interior '97, with aims to upgrade design standards in the Asia-Pacific region and to celebrate the achievements made by interior design professionals.
Sponsors for the fair include the Hong Kong Designers Association, the Interior Design Association, the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers, the Hong Kong Chapter of the Chartered Society of Designers, the Hong Kong Furniture & Decoration Trade Association Ltd., the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, China Building Decoration Association, and China National Interior Decoration Association.
