Hong Kong Film Industry on Show at Cannes 2010
HKTDC Pavilion, Exhibits and Screenings at Marché du Film

11 May 2010 – Hong Kong filmmakers will screen their latest projects and exhibit industry talent during the Cannes Film Festival starting Wednesday, with 17 local companies joining the concurrent Marché du Film, the world’s largest film market.

Five of the Hong Kong companies will showcase their latest projects at a pavilion organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Last year the market set in the French Riviera celebrated its 50th anniversary with 400 exhibitors and 10,000 participants representing 4,000 companies from 101 countries.

Hong Kong on the Riviera
The Hong Kong Pavilion, which will be located at stand B9/C10 of the event’s Riviera section, will include exhibits by Edko Films Ltd, Fortune Star Entertainment (HK) Ltd, Mandarin Films Distribution Co Ltd, T-Films Ltd and Universe Films Distribution Co Ltd.

Outside the pavilion, individual exhibits are being set up by another 12 Hong Kong companies including Deltamac (Hong Kong) Co. Ltd., Distribution Workshop, Emperor Motion Pictures, Fortissimo Films, Golden Network Asia Ltd., Golden Scene Company Limited, Keep in Touch Company Limited, Lark Films Distribution Limited, Media Asia Distribution Ltd., Mega-Vision Pictures Limited, Mei Ah Entertainment Group Limited and We Distribution Limited.

In addition, several Hong Kong films will be screened at the 12-23 May film market, including Crossing Hennessy, EX, Fire of Conscience, Gallants, Ip Man 2, Love in a Puff, Lover’s Discourse and Mulan.

Hong Kong at the International Village
A Hong Kong business support centre will be set-up at stand 133 of the International Village. Open to all participants from Hong Kong as well as their accompanied guests, the centre offers free business facilities as well as a venue for meetings and media interviews.

To facilitate additional business exchange and networking, four “Dim Sum Hour” sessions will be held in the business support centre. Pre-registration is required for the sessions to be held 12:30-2:30pm on 14th, 16th, 17th and 19th May.

FILMART – A record-breaking success in 2010
The Hong Kong Pavilion will also provide information meant to attract industry players to the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART). The most recent event in March set attendance records, with more than 540 exhibitors from 29 countries and regions and nearly 5,000 visitors from 51 countries and regions.
