HKTDC Website, Product Magazines Shine at US WebAwards
Council Has Now Won Prestigious Awards for 10 Consecutive Years
11 October 2011 – The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) B2B online marketplace, hktdc.com, and HKTDC Product Magazines picked up six awards from the US-based Web Marketing Association last month.
The HKTDC website won “Best Portal Website” honours for its efforts in handling extensive amounts of data, while the HKTDC Product Magazines took the “Advertising Standard of Excellence,” the “B2B Standard of Excellence,” the “E-Zine Standard of Excellence,” the “International Business Standard of Excellence” and the “Magazine Standard of Excellence” awards.
The HKTDC has now received the prestigious WebAwards for 10 consecutive years. “We have been providing third-party authentication services since 2007, raising the confidence of global buyers by providing multi-faceted authentication services,” said Sophia Chong, HKTDC Director of Publications & E-Commerce. “Our commitment is reflected in our motto: ‘The Online Marketplace You Can Trust.’”
Connecting Buyers and Suppliers
The HKTDC Product Magazines’ print, online and mobile-app versions connect millions of quality buyers with credible suppliers, Miss Chong noted. “Our Appgazine is the world’s first B2B product magazine app that enables buyers to view our product magazines on the iPad, iPhone and Android smartphones,” she added.
The B2B online marketplace and leading authentication companies Dun & Bradstreet (HK) Ltd and Intertek Testing Services Ltd (Intertek) together provide verification of supplier company profiles, certificates and accreditation.
The HKTDC recently strengthened its B2B offerings by launching the Compliance Verification Service in association with Intertek. The agency inspects Hong Kong and Chinese mainland factories to confirm their compliance in key areas, including quality control, social responsibility, environmental protection and supply-chain security, before issuing verification reports that are uploaded to hktdc.com for buyer reference.

“The Compliance Verification Service was launched in the third quarter of this year and gives more than 1.1 million registered buyers a better overview of our registered suppliers,” Miss Chong said. “The HKTDC is dedicated to optimising hktdc.com and its Product Magazines’ portfolio, so that buyers can search for supplier information, products and services effectively.”
