Latest Consumer Tech Products from Around the World on Display

13 October 2012 – Some 3,900 exhibitors, with about 5,300 booths, are taking part in the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), the largest show of its kind in the world, and electronicAsia. The two fairs opened today and continue through 16 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The twin fairs have attracted more than 120 buying missions representing over 9,300 buyers from 65 countries and regions. They include Best Buy (United States), Carrefour (France), MGB Metro (Germany), ozon.ru (Russia), Future Group (India), and PChome (Taiwan).

The Electronics Fair alone has attracted exhibitors from 28 countries and regions, including first-time participant Lithuania, along with pavilions representing the Chinese mainland, the country’s Fujian and Jiangmen provinces, Korea and Taiwan.

Consumer-Tech Innovations

Electronics Fair highlights include the new Bags and Cases zone. Together with the expanded Mobile Devices and Accessories zone, the two areas feature more than 120 exhibitors showcasing tablet PCs, smartphones and related accessories.

The Hall of Fame presents consumer electronics with stylish design and outstanding functions. Among the more than 440 brands taking part are Alcatel, Binatone, Coby, Desay, Fujikon, Goodway, Motorola, Philips, Pierre CardinVTech and Westinghouse. The latest innovations from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan are on display in the Invention Zone. Many of the products there are making their debut at the fair and have yet to be launched in the market.

The fair features a great variety of sessions offering the latest market intelligence and industry insight. This afternoon’s Hong Kong Electronic Industry Summit focuses on applications for smart devices, while tomorrow’s Buyer Forum will spotlight Poland’s market potential. Seminars over the fair’s last three days examine market opportunities, e-retailing strategies, smart TV display technology and its market developments, new solar technology applications for electronics products and regulatory updates on electronics and electrical products.

The presentation ceremony for the Hong Kong Electronics Industry Association Award for Outstanding Innovation & Technology Products takes place this evening, with the winning products presentation on 15 October.

Key Components for Smart Devices

Running alongside the electronics fair, electronicAsia presents pavilions from the Chinese mainland, Japan, Korea and Thailand. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI Asia Pte Ltd, the show’s new Key Components for Smart Devices zone features a range of products, including connectors, touch panels, LED backlight and metal cases for smartphones and tablets.

Solar & Display Technology

The fair’s World of Solar presents a variety of solar technology, including modules, inverters and batteries, as well as thermal systems and thin-film flat panels. SISVEL, Truly Semiconductors, You-Eal Corporation, Santek and other major brands are exhibiting at the World of Display Technology. Industry players will explore new applications of solar technology for electronics products at the World of Solar Conference, 15 October.

Small Orders, Big Business

For the first time, the Autumn Electronics Fair features a Small-Order Zone. Located at Expo Drive Entrance, the zone showcases more than a thousand quality products from over 220 suppliers. Buyers can also find the Small-Order Zone at the HKTDC online marketplace (www.hktdc.com/so), offering more than 46,000 products available in small quantities. Since January, the online zone has received nearly 80,000 trade enquiries.
