Eco Expo Asia Opens Tomorrow with US as Partner Country
Test Drives of Eco-friendly Vehicles, Innovative Products on Show

2 November 2010 – The 5th edition of Eco Expo Asia will open tomorrow at Asia-World Expo featuring the latest eco-friendly products and technologies. With more than 260 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, the Expo has grown by 33 per cent in terms of exhibitor numbers and 70 per cent in exhibition space. 

The Expo is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, and co-organised by the Environment Bureau of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The first three days are open to trade buyers only with the final day being open to the general public. 

Under the theme Business Solutions to Climate Change, the Expo features the United States as the partner country, and with the largest overseas pavilion. In addition, group pavilions have been organised for France, Japan, Macau and the United Kingdom, as well as for Foshan, Guangdong, Jiangmen, Kunming and Shenzhen from the Chinese mainland. 

Local companies will be present under the umbrellas of the Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and the Green Council. New zones this year include a Green Building zone and Home-grown Technology zone. 

Environmental Vehicles in the Spotlight
The expo’s eco-friendly vehicle zone will highlight vehicles such as an electric bus, taxi, delivery van as well as motorcycles, hybrid vehicles and the Segway personal transporter. Making a debut in Hong Kong will be the Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid, L1 Concept and Milano Taxi, an electric bus from Great Dragon International Corporation Limited, electric cars from Shenzhen Greenwheel Electric Vehicle Co Ltd and an electric bike made by Green Mobility Innovations Limited.

Visitors with valid driving licenses can test drive Volkswagen’s Touareg Hybrid on the public day. Those without driving licenses can test ride the car or Great Dragon’s bus. Those interested in the test rides or drives can register at http://www.ecoexpoasia.com/.

Eco Asia Conference, Public Day Programme
The Eco Asia Conference held from 3 to 5 November will highlight the Eco-US seminar, Eco-UK seminar, Nordic Panel Discussion on Waste Management & Recycling and Sino-French Seminar on Sustainable Development. There will also be sessions on green transportation and waste management and recycling.

On 6 November, four public forums will be held on green efficiency and low carbon living. Hong Kong’s China Light and Power will also host the CLP Green Studio: Eco-care Mobile Studio.
