Application for Hong Kong Certificate of Origin

The “Made in Hong Kong” label has a price tag. Hong Kong’s Certificate of Origin System provides a proof of origin for products exported by Hong Kong and was introduced to facilitate the export of Hong Kong products to overseas markets.

Application criteria:

Export products applying for a Hong Kong certificate of origin must meet the following requirements:

1) Wholly obtained or manufactured in Hong Kong;

2) Major processes such as substantial processing or manufacturing are carried out in Hong Kong, in which the cost of local parts and components and labour should account for at least 25% of the total cost;

3) For certain products under CEPA, the value-added content should reach 30%.

Industry players can apply to TID’s Origin Certification Branch for verification of their products to see if they are qualified to apply for Hong Kong’s certificate of origin.
